Hannah Polites’ Postpartum Naked Selfie Is Very Important Viewing For All Women

Let’s cut to the chase: we don’t see enough real bodies on Instagram – especially postpartum. Instead, our feeds are flooded with a hyper-filtered, glossy glimpse into life after childbirth. Fitness guru Hannah Polites is trying to fill that void.

Via Instagram, the 27-year-old has shared a naked snap of herself taken just one day after welcoming her baby boy Arlo to the world. “38 weeks pregnant, 24hrs post birth,” she captioned it.

38 weeks pregnant ?? 24hrs post birth ??✨? Although a little confronting for me, I want to be as real as possible with you all and share my post partum body journey exactly how it is. I was tired, pale and a little sore but so proud of what I’d just achieved the day before. The human body is so amazing and I’m so thankful that mine was able to grow, birth and now nurture my boy ???? I’m in no rush to “bounce back” and will just be focusing on my family and new baby, not exercising for at least 6 weeks. Evaliah has already asked why mama’s belly button “looks funny” and why my skin on my belly is so soft and she now knows that it’s because my body created a beautiful life and that’s bloody incredible ✨? #thankful #postpartumbody #postpartum

I was tired, pale and a little sore but so proud of what I’d just achieved the day before. The human body is so amazing and I’m so thankful that mind was able to grow, birth and now nurture my boy.”

Instead of rushing to ‘bounce back,’ Hannah told her 1.3 mil followers that she will be focusing all of her energy on the newborn and two-year-old daughter, Evaliah  – which means no exercise for at least six weeks.

“Evaliah has already asked why mama’s belly button ‘looks funny’ and why my skin on my belly is so soft,” Hannah continued. “She knows that it’s because my body created beautiful life and that’s bloody incredible.”

The post has since been liked more than 67,000 times, with fans applauding her for showing a true account of motherhood.

“I remember I cried after my first child’s birth because my body still looked pregnant days after it,” one user commented. “This is honestly such an amazing post especially for women that don’t bounce back or know that ‘bouncing back’ days after is a myth.

“I don’t have kids but I think these type of posts of social media are SO important for women ? thank you,” added another.

This isn’t the first time Hannah’s opened up about her feelings towards her body after becoming a mum. In May, she admitted she was overwhelmed at being told her figure “would never be the same.”

“I’ve been more sick this time, have put on more weight, skin has stretched further, abdominal separation, wider hips and boobs that have gone nuts etc but my body is far from ruined,” she explained.
