Here's the Story Behind Lush's New Turtle Jelly Bomb

As many globally loved products as Lush Cosmetics makes, the brand is arguably synonymous with bath bombs. I mean, no offense, Dream Cream, but John Mayer didn't write a song about you, know what I'm saying? And ever since Lush launched vegan Jelly Bombs last year, even more people have gotten the opportunity to enjoy the fizzy, colorful bath experience so many Lushies love. And after nearly six months with a new one, the brand has introduced a Jelly Bomb that will raise your levels of relaxation and environmental awareness.

The Turtle Jelly Bomb looks exactly like you might expect: It resembles a sea turtle, with turquoise spots on its bright green shell. And while the design is decidedly adorable, it's also meant to remind users that ocean pollution is threatening marine life. In addition to the seaweed that helps give the bathwater its jelly-like texture, it contains strings of agar seaweed that disperse to symbolize the plastic straws that have been found to so heartbreakingly wound and kill sea turtles and other ocean dwellers. (A growing number of coastal U.S. cities have begun banning plastic straws in effort to prevent both pollution and animal injury.)

Like all of Lush's bath bombs, the Turtle Jelly Bomb smells incredible. As it fizzes away and turns the water green, a de-stressing woodsy scent is released, thanks to the inclusion of cypress oil, sandalwood oil, and pine needle absolute. And while your new turtle friend may be gone, you're left with super-soft skin — and hopefully a more eco-friendly outlook.

The Turtle Jelly Bomb is now available for $8 on lushusa.com, and it comes to Lush stores on June 29.
