- After lots of blood action (warning!), Dr. Pimple Popper squeezes out a fleshy, orange, lipoma that’s been there for a “few years.”
On this morning’s edition of Dr. Pimple Popper-nearly-makes-you spit-out-your-coffee-in surprise is…a large, lumpy lipoma! (Cue: “oooooh” from the audience.)
In her most recent Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper (a.k.a. Sandra Lee, M.D.) gets to work on a devilishly stubborn lipoma, which, btw, is just a benign growth of fat cells. “The struggle is real with this #lipoma, it brought backup!” the dermatologist captioned the post. And, let me tell you, she is not kidding around: This bad boy really puts up a fight.

But what you see on Instagram is actually only part of the story. The real showdown between Dr. P and the lipoma is on her YouTube channel, in the video titled “A Lipoma That Has Bodyguards.” So, may I re-direct your focus there? Thanks…
This longer video begins with Dr. Pimple Popper opening up the bump on the patient’s back, employing a buzzing device that appears to really open up the skin so the doc can get as deep as necessary to extract the lipoma. The tool’s oddly (and disconcertingly) reminiscent of a dentist’s drill. So, friendly PSA: If you can’t stand the sound of the tools at the dentist’s office, you might want to watch with the volume off.
As Dr. P continues continues to dig deeper, she says to her patient, “Goodness sake! For such a little person, you’ve got good vessels here.” And, yes, those blood vessels are spewing the red liquid everywhere and making it difficult for Dr. P to get to the lipoma, which has been on the patient’s back for “a few years.”
After a seemingly never-ending tango of Dr. P and her right-side woman opening (cutting? drilling?) the skin, then sopping up blood, then opening the skin again, she spots the lipoma.
Her first response? “It’s like a little casing. Almost like an amniotic sac.” Oh, Dr. P, always so spot-on with the vivid descriptions. Peeking out from the hole is a portion of a fleshy, orange lipoma—but it isn’t ready to back down yet.
It takes a lot of attempts (hey, every squeeze can’t be a ~breeze~), a few more tools, and plenty of handy work, but finally the derm is able to extract the lump by squeezing with one hand while pulling out the lipoma with tweezers in the other. Success!

While she cuts around the lipoma (and more thick vessels!) to finish the extraction, she checks in with the patient: “Are you okay? I’m trying to be very gentle because it’s like you have these blood vessels standing guard.” The blood vessels look like strings tugging on the lipoma as if they’re crying, “Don’t take our friend away from us!” Ugh, clingy things.
Once the lipoma is out, Dr. Pimple Popper inspects the, tbh, rather large. deep bloody hole and explains what just went down, “Yeah, there are three vessels there that did not want us to do that. Three of them and they all shot at me, the last one got me in the chest.”
Unfortunately, though (*sigh*), it’s really hard to catch any of the earlier squirt action in the video. The nice patient apologizes for the situation, but Dr. P (a.k.a. the queen of empathy, as I’ve said before), responds, “It’s okay; it’s part of it. I can’t wear red scrubs every day!” *Giggles*
But, wait! Doc! If you do start wearing more red scrubs than viewers can’t see the blood and what fun is that???
