Meshel Laurie's Son Was Bullied For Taking This To School

Being a parent in 2018 is a bloody tough gig, just ask Meshel Laurie.

Taking to Twitter to vent her frustrations earlier this week, The Project host shared that her eight-year-old son Louie had been lunchbox shamed over a homemade cookie.

“My son was bullied at school today because he had an unhealthy snack. (Homemade choc chip cookie. 1.) School. Has. Changed,” she wrote.

“I wish that ‘bully’ could go back in time to my primary school in Toowoomba in the early ‘80s for just one little lunch. Cookies were biscuits, shoes were optional and bullies were not known for their health food programs.”

The 42-year-old admitted she felt conflicted about how to address the situation:

“I really, really want to advise my son to tell that kid to f*ck off. Just nice and simple. Right in his smug little face. Old school. Ugh. I know I can’t though. That kid is hiding behind the niceness of the school,” she said. “It’s hard being a bogan parent sometimes.”

Many of her followers were quick to sympathise.

“Oh, it definitely has! My children think cigarettes are akin to heroin. I used to use cigarettes to barter for Mars Bars in year 8!” one user responded.

“Give him two cookies tomorrow, he can give one to the bully to show him what he’s missing out on,” reasoned another.

Even celebrity chef Julie Goodman came to Meshel’s defence.

“HEY! Your son is lucky to get homemade food. Not many kids are that lucky. xox,” she wrote.
