The much-loved English actor and comedian, 63, is best known for her role as Janey Yorke in the ITV sitcom, ‘Benidorm’. Her no-nonsense Liverpudlian character is responsible for organising entertainment at the Solana Resort. Crissy is also known for playing the central role of Maggie Conlan in Ken Loach’s 1994 film ‘Ladybird Ladybird’. Tonight, she returns to TV screens as she goes antiques-hunting in ‘Celebrity Antiques Road Trip’ on BBC Two.

A northern showdown is on the cards as Crissy takes on Durham-born TV personality Scarlett Moffatt.

The pair battle it out at an auction in the north east, with a little help from antiques experts Margie Cooper and Christina Trevanion.

While Crissy may be back working now, an unearthed interview with the star reveals how tough she found the pandemic last year.

The actor told Express.co.uk in September last year that she’d “put on loads of weight” during England’s COVID-19 lockdown.

She said: “I’m knackered now and after this lockdown I’ve become even more knackered.

“I’ve just put loads of weight on and you don’t go anywhere, you don’t do anything and then all of a sudden you’re just stiff as a board.”

The comedian revealed she had shaken up her diet and exercise regime as the country was emerging from lockdown.

She said: “So, now I’m exercising and watching what I eat because I can now go to the shop.

“When you were doing online shopping you think, ‘Oh get me those cakes!’

“You just end up stuffing your face all day every day, bored, so it’s time to get with it now.”

In a bid to shed some lockdown pounds, Crissy adopted an NHS weight loss plan.

The star began to take part in the 12-week Better Health initiative, which helps people set weight loss goals, create meal plans and make healthier food choices.

The star revealed the results of the plan in a Facebook video in October, saying she had “enjoyed herself” and had “stuck to healthy eating”.

Crissy said she had lost around nine or ten pounds and was just under the 10-stone mark.

She said: “I’m so happy. I feel so much better in myself. I can actually move myself. I do my little bit of exercise.”

Speaking to Express.co.uk, Crissy revealed how she had incorporated gentle exercise into her daily life.

Speaking about the Better Health plan, she said: “Since I’ve started this, I’m walking now.

“So, I’ll get up in the morning and walk round the block and it’s about half a mile around the big square block.

“I’m getting to two round the blocks now so I’m feeling a lot better in myself and I’m not so sluggish.

“I’ve been on loads of diets through my life, fad ones, but this is seeing what is good food and what is bad food because we don’t know what that is.”

‘Celebrity Antiques Road Trip’ will be broadcast on BBC Two tonight from 7pm – 8pm.
