While many celebrities ignore rude comments on their Instagram posts, there is a handful that clap back at the haters. Take Kourtney Kardashian, who responded to comments about her son's long hair, and Chrissy Teigen, who had a hilarious answer to people coming at her for not wearing a bra. Now, the comeback queen, Rihanna, just replied to someone who questioned her use of sunscreen during colder seasons.
Rihanna launched her skin-care brand, Fenty Skin, in July, and on Sunday, September 27, the brand founder posted a photo to her Instagram showing off her mini Fenty Skin Start'rs Kit. The singer posed for the camera wearing a lacy pink bra, Yankees bucket hat, and the Hydra Vizor Invisible Moisturizer SPF 30 smeared on her skin. Rihanna captioned the photo, "Just protecting my melanin while they try to eradicate it! @fentyskin #FentySkinStartRs mini gang!"
While Rihanna was just trying to protect her skin, one follower felt the need to comment, "It's winter now." Of course, Rihanna had the perfect response, writing, "It's the ignorance for me! You gon have wrinkles if you think spf is seasonal! But continue."
And let us beauty editors tell you, she's correct — SPF is not a seasonal thing. In fact, you should be wearing sunscreen all day, every day, despite how cloudy or cold it may be. "If you can see your hand in front of your face, UV rays are strong enough to cause damage, cancer, and fine lines like wrinkles," says New York City-based board-certified dermatologist Mona Gohara. "That means rain, sleet, snow, or shine, you should be wearing it."
Gohara also stressed that indoor light, phones, and screens can also damage the skin. She recommends picking a tinted sunscreen that works for your skin tone to use all year round. We love Versed Guards Up Daily Mineral Sunscreen because it's light enough to use every day and has a peachy tone that flawlessly blends into all skin tones.
So, here's what we learned today. Lesson one: Don't ever come at Rihanna because she will put you in your place. And lesson two: Be like Rihanna and wear sunscreen every single day.
