Aussie model Samantha Harris has clapped back at “keyboard warriors” for leaving “hurtful and racist” comments about her on social media.
The 27-year-old took to Instagram to repost a snap of herself attending the Moet & Chandon Spring Champion Stakes Day in Sydney over the weekend, confessing that the negativity she’d received over the “unflattering” shot had taken its toll on her emotional well-being.
“Definitely not a flattering photo of me but that’s ok,” she began the lengthy post. “We can’t be ready for a photo all the time.”
“But what does get me down is that all the negativity that one photo can cause. The amount of hurtful & racists comments I receive is unbelievable I would never go out of my way to say that about another human. I’m not one to rant and I never do as this isn’t the first time it’s happened but enough is enough.
“I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and I’m totally fine with that,” she continued. “I love my job I love the fact I can inspire so many women but these keyboard warriors don’t even understand how hurtful their words can be.”
Samantha’s message was met with hundreds of comments from fans supporting her decision to call out trolls.
“You’re a gorgeous person inside and out and you’re allowed to have ‘unphotogenic’ days,” one user wrote.
“Such pathetic people,” another quipped. “Thank you for bringing diversity to the fashion world and for being a strong beautiful woman who doesn’t tolerate bullying.”
