The vaccine program has been rolled out quickly with 75 percent of adults in the UK having had their first COVID-19 jab. But the emergence of new variants has prompted the government to push ahead at an even faster rate – with the rollout continuing in earnest when will you be able to get jabbed?
The message from the Government is to get jabbed as soon as possible.
The vaccine rollout has been ramped up amid growing concerns over the surge in cases of the Covid mutation first detected in India, now known as the Delta variant.
Getting vaccinated will help combat the rising number of cases, receiving two doses of the vaccine will help reduce the number of hospital cases.
The Health Secretary, Matt Hancock as repeatedly urged Brits to “join the millions” and to get the vaccine as soon as they are eligible.
He said: “We are fighting this awful virus together – and it is vital everyone has their second dose as soon as they’re eligible to give themselves the fullest possible protection against variants so we can beat COVID-19.”
So with all of us being urged to get the vaccine when will you be eligible to book your appointment?
Eligibility for the vaccine is decided primarily on age.
The government has rolled out the vaccine starting with the elderly and then successively offering the vaccine to younger age groups who are generally considered to be less at risk from the virus.
In England, all those 30 and over can book their vaccine now.
The vaccine program has varied in different parts of the UK.
The situation in Scotland is similar to England with those 30 and over now being offered the jab, although in some parts of Glasgow those aged 18 and over can apply to get vaccinated.
In Wales and Northern Ireland, all those aged 18 and above are eligible to book a vaccine appointment.

Most frontline health and social care staff should have already received their first vaccine as they were made eligible a while ago regardless of their age.
All those aged 18 and over who are considered clinically extremely vulnerable are eligible to receive the vaccine.
Even some over-16s with health conditions that could increase their risk from Covid could be entitled to book their Covid jab.
When will I get my second vaccine?
You are not considered to be fully vaccinated until you have had two shots of the vaccine.
This will provide the best level of protection against the virus.
The Johnson and Johnson vaccine is the only single-shot vaccine currently approved for use in the UK.
You should be offered your second dose within 12 weeks of receiving your first.
The NHS have said 98 percent of Brits are being jabbed with their second dose of the vaccine within 12 weeks, so if you have had your first dose you should be able to get your second soon.
