Well, 2021 has certainly been an exciting year for Demi Lovato's hair. The singer-songwriter entered the new decade with a textured blonde bowl cut, completely ditching their signature, longer jet-black hair. Since then, they have shown that short haircuts don't limit style possibilities at all. On January 10, they debuted a pastel pink pixie, hopping on the immensely popular hair-color trend, and toward the end of February went even shorter and returned to a black hue. Then, Lovato performed at the 2021 iHeart Radio Awards in May with an edgy, pitch-black mullet. Now, they are back to their pixie once again.
They shared a few selfies of their new style on Instagram stories for fans to ooh and ahh over the beauty. Lovato poses like an expert for the camera in a white-and-pink patterned button-up, a set of pearls, and bubblegum-pink earrings that have "fuck" written on them in lowercase letters.
The short black cut was brushed and styled towards the front with baby bangs that extend about an inch onto their forehead. Though straight, this hair is full of volume (no limpness found over here). The textured pixie was curved slightly at the ends, adding texture and movement to the style, thanks to hairstylist Rena Calhoun. We definitely need to know the specific products and tools behind this gorgeous texture. Was it the work of a pomade or maybe just a flat iron and hairspray?
The super cute pixie isn't the only great thing happening here. Lovato's makeup, which was painted on and blended to perfection by makeup artist Jill Powell, looks immaculate as well. Pink is clearly the theme here, so Powell blended rosy and champagne pigments on the eyes and added a pair of lengthy lashes. Lovato's signature bold brows look gorgeous, too, as per usual. And for the lips, Powell kept it simple with a light, pink-toned neutral hue.
We're excited to see what other summer hairstyles Lovato might debut in the coming weeks. Maybe they will go back to their vivid hair-color days and introduce blues, greens, and other pretty shades into the mix. Perhaps they will continue to play around with wigs and other extensions to switch up their looks instead. Regardless, we're almost certain it will receive a 10/10 from us.
