While most actors are decidedly coy when it comes to beauty routines and wellness regimes, Kate Hudson is an open book. With three kids, Hudson’s Instagram is a testament to the juggling act that is motherhood and quite often, the Hollywood star shows just how draining it can be. While there certainly is no shortage of enviable designer looks and the kind of glam you’d expect of a critically-acclaimed actress, Hudson is most passionate about health and fitness and it’s this content that we particularly love.
In a recent interview with Women’s Health US, Hudson discussed her attitude towards health and fitness and just how she manages to carve out the time in her busy schedule. As Hudson revealed, a big focus she’s working on in 2021 is finding time for gratitude. She told the publication, “The beginning of the pandemic was very stressful for me and the teams, and I didn’t have time to reflect on anything. I just wanted to try to save the companies.” Now, having adjusted to the “new normal” we find ourselves in, Hudson is making it a priority to sit down and enjoy meals with her kids without being distracted, to be present and be more intentional about finding moments of stillness – and relish them.

For Hudson, having a regular workout and eating routine not only works for her, but also helps her manage challenges that arise in day-to-day life. “I’ve always felt that wellness is about your quality of life,” she says. “You need to know what makes you feel good. It’s about doing the things you love, eating the things you want to, exercising and not feeling like you need to [push yourself] for two hours in a hot room. You can just take a nice walk and still be healthy.”

For Kate, her routine includes intermittent fasting – not for weight loss, but energy. “It’s not for everyone,” she says. She downs a glass of celery juice in the morning, then black coffee or tea. After her breakfast, she squeezes in a sweat session and likes to mix exercise with meditation. In terms of workouts, she loves pilates or Tracy Anderson classes, which she credits as helping her “skin attach back to my muscle” after having had three kids.
Around 11 or 11:30am, she breaks her fast and eats. She cooks as many of her own meals as she can, using recipes from cookbooks that focus on balance and healthy eating.
