Diabetes is a common condition that affects about five million people in the UK. While the number of diabetes patients is growing, you could still lower your risk of developing the condition by simply making a few changes to your daily diet.

However, you can make some easy lifestyle changes to protect against diabetes.
One of the best ways to avoid symptoms is to add fenugreek to your dinner routine, according to medical website Medical News Today.
Fenugreek is a type of plant that can be used as herb. It’s actually already widely used in the Indian subcontinent.
The plant has been claimed to help slow down the digestion of carbohydrates, which subsequently lowers the risk of dangerous blood sugar spikes.

“Herbs and supplements will not cure diabetes and do not constitute a standalone treatment, but some may combine with conventional treatment to provide relief from symptoms and reduce the risk of complications, ” it said.
“Fenugreek is a seed that may help lower blood sugar levels.
“The seeds contain fibres and chemicals that help to slow down the digestion of carbohydrates and sugar.
“There is also some evidence that the seeds may help delay or prevent the onset of type 2 diabetes.”
You could simply add fenugreek leaves or seeds to your dinner to gain the benefit.
Alternatively, try adding it to warm water and drinking it as a tea, or take it as a supplement in capsule form.
Ginger has also been claimed to protect against diabetes symptoms.
It could reduce insulin resistance, which helps to maintain balanced blood sugar levels.
It’s not always easy to know if you’re at risk of diabetes, because the symptoms can be very subtle.
The most common signs include fatigue, passing more urine than normal, and blurred vision.
You should speak to a doctor if you’re worried about the symptoms of diabetes.
A quick blood test should be enough to reveal your chances of type 2 diabetes.
