Raise Your Hand If You Wore Bella Hadid's Hairstyle In Middle School

Just when you thought we'd reached peak '90s nostalgia with claw clips and plastic headbands, Bella Hadid went ahead and brought back another one of the decade's greatest hair heroes: the zig-zag part.

Hadid hit a Bulgari event in Rome on Thursday in a slicked-back low bun and a severe zig-zag part, the likes of which you probably haven't seen since middle school, care of hairstylist Jennifer Yepez.

"Bella thought it would be fun to do a zig-zag part and a messy bun. I love the idea — so '90s and how I used to wear my hair as well (I think we all did)," Yepez tells Allure. "So I first prepped with Kérastase Mousse Bouffante, that way you get some grip in the hair. Then, I took a rattail comb and made my part from the middle go in one direction then the other direction, [and repeated] all the way back. Then I used Kérastase Laque Couture and a Mason Pearson brush to smooth all the hair, keeping the part clean, then used an elastic to make a messy bun with some hairs that come out of it to look more effortless. Then I applied Kérastase Elixir Ultime on the front for high shine."

Hadid complemented the look with a few other '90s trends: brown nails, small gold hoops, a miniature lady bag, and of course, tiny sunglasses (sorry, Mindy Kaling, but it looks like they're not going anywhere any time soon). Her lips were painted in a deep, glossy rose, and her skin looked extra dewy with ample highlighter on her cheeks and nose, thanks to makeup artist Mary Phillips.

It's worth mentioning that Hadid's outfit for the event was just as lovely as her glam. She wore a white skirt suit with no shirt underneath it, buttoning the jacket just so to reveal a lacy white bra. And on her feet, she made a serious case for the oft-debated socks and sandals trend.

Though Hadid was only three years old when she rang in the millennium, she's fully embraced the resurgence of '90s beauty. Earlier this year, she chopped her hair into a cropped bob with curtain bangs, and made us all seriously consider why we threw away our barrettes when she was photographed wearing some in London last May.
